La Granda is a new way of producing meat, which starts from the land, because if the land is “good” the entire supply chain benefits: from the roots to the final product, through the professionalism of the farmers and the tranquillity of the animals.
La Granda is “preserving by innovating”: a responsible intervention in the territory that protects and encourages tradition, using continuously renewing technologies and studies.
La Granda is the valorisation of the role of the breeder, who in this context also learns to be a good farmer. In fact, only through in-depth knowledge of the terrain does he have the opportunity to improve and perfect his work, day by day.
The Granda is a model that can be replicated and adapted to multiple situations and agricultural sectors, a few clear and precise guidelines recommended to anyone who wants to undertake a quality path.
The cow-calf line is implemented: all fattened animals come from companies registered with the Association
The livestock feed consists of natural raw materials such as: hay (preferably from stable meadow), corn, barley, bran, broad beans, field beans, wheat germ, protein peas, chard pulp, carobs, fresh brewer’s grains, plants officinal and in any case all raw materials that do not derive from industrial processing waste.
Genetically modified foods, antibiotics and sulphonamides are prohibited; Phytotherapy and vaccination prophylaxis are permitted as an alternative.
The label is the identity card that guarantees the truthfulness of the written data and is guaranteed by a third party (INOQ). The label unequivocally illustrates the name of the company, the producer and the origin of the animal to guarantee the traceability of the product.
La Granda embraces the “Symbiotic Agriculture” agri-food production system which aims to improve the microbial biodiversity of the soil, following the guidelines for the care of the land from which to produce its own fodder and food for the animals, directly engaging in the protection of the territory, of air, water and soil
“La Granda is a new way of doing agriculture, based on the balance of three great well-beings””
Environmental Wellbeing
Environmental well-being is guaranteed through the use of good agricultural practices, natural fertilization and the application of the “Symbiotic Agriculture” Production System. This involves crop rotations and the use of microbial compounds in the soil, so as to promote the natural symbiosis between plants and microorganisms to improve and increase the resilience of agroecosystems.
Animal Wellbeing
According to La Granda, animal welfare also depends on the choice of diet: only a few mycorrhizal cereals and hay from polyphytic meadows. The cow-calf line is privileged: the calves born in the stable are breastfed by the mother for 4-6 months.
Social Wellbeing
La Granda translates social well-being by giving prestige to human activity. In exchange for honest work, the meat is paid to the farmer with a fixed price agreed upon throughout the year. Small and large productions are paid the same, as long as they work honestly and correctly.
La Granda’s policy provides that at every moment of production it is possible to “trace” the product: the transparency of the origins of the animal – where and how it was raised – is important to explain to the consumer the nature and origin of his food.
Furthermore, voluntary labeling offers more information for each cut: the name of the breeder, the breed, the sex, the age and the date of slaughter of the animal.
